Its own site states that over 8,000 students are enrolled, including more than 500 international students from over 30 nationalities, and lists certificate, diploma, bachelor's, master's and PhD programmes across eleven schools covering communication, business and economics, law, nursing, science and engineering, arts and social sciences, applied human sciences and education. The institution traces its origin to Daystar Publications, founded in 1964, which moved to Kenya in 1971.
